WHAT'S NEW ON RADIO KIDNAPPERS

DIVERSE CITY
Starting on Sunday 18th May at 6pm, and continuing thereafter each fortnight, we are broadcasting this 15-episode series (produced in Christchurch) which explores how ethnic/migrant issues are portrayed in the mainstream and ethnic media.

The presenter is journalist Victoria Wynn-Thomas, and in the first episode (25mins) she talks with Rebecca Todd (ethics affairs reporter with the Christchurch Press) and Candy Wu (journalist from the NZ Messenger). Victoria also went out and about at the Culture Galore event.

Look on our NoticeBoard for details of future episodes.

L.I.V.E. HAWKE'S BAY
This new 30min programme starts on Tuesday 27th May at 12:30pm, and can be heard thereafter on the 4th Tuesday each month.

LIVE Hawke's Bay (Local Initiative for Violence Elimination) is a collaboration of 34 member agencies committed to working together to support the HB community in developing opportunities to prevent family violence.

The programme will raise public awareness of the incidence of family violence as well as ensuring everybody knows where to go for support and help.

Listen in for detailed information on regional services, good-neighbour tips, and statistics on local trends and patterns.

TWO OF YOUR FAVOURITE PROGRAMMES ARE NOW 30MINS LONGER
The conclusion of "Unplugged & Mildly Dangerous" has given us an hour on Friday mornings to fill, and we're pleased to say that both Big Daddy and Morris J have agreed to extend their respective programmes by ½ an hour ... Big Daddy will carry on until 9am, and Morris J will start 30mins earlier than previously.

So each week you can now hear "Big Daddy's Breakfast" from 6am-9am, and "Swing and Sway with Morris J" from 9am-12noon.

RICK BARKER MP
Rick's regular Friday afternoon slot is now one hour later. Tune in at 4:30pm on Fridays for Rick Barker's take on local and national issues, along with regular guests on the programme.

MARIA HAS LEFT US
Our hardworking Deputy-Manager for the past 8 years, Maria Williams, has moved on to greener pastures, and finished at Radio Kidnappers on 18th April. We all wish her well, and will really miss her friendly presence in the Napier studio and on the airwaves.

Some programme and operational changes are inevitable as a result - for example the Fridays-8:30am "Unplugged & Mildly Dangerous" had its final broadcast on 18th April.

Our "Contact Us" page has now been updated with amended arrangements. Please check there for further details.

IDEA SERVICES
Idea Services is an IHC community service whose mission is to empower people with intellectual disabilities to live, learn, work, and enjoy life in the wider community. This new 30min programme can be heard on the 4th Thursday of each month, at 12noon.

WORLD MUSIC
Since 2006, Trent has been bringing you "Americana & World Music" on Monday nights from 5:45pm-7:00pm (45mins of Americana, followed by 30mins of World). From now on, the show will be known simply as "WORLD MUSIC" and, for the full 75mins, Trent will be treating you to an even more expansive selection of music from all parts of the globe.

CARING FOR CARERS
Caring For Carers is a service of Presbyterian Support East Coast - providing training, support and advocacy so that caregivers themselves are not injured when caring. Tune in for 30min on the 2nd Friday each month at 4pm, starting from 11th April, to find out more about Caring For Carers - what they do, how they do it, and who is involved.

SENTIMENTAL JOURNEY

Our Schedule page each month will show the exact dates when you can hear these guys in action.

THE FIDDLE CLUB

HEART OF THE HEARTLAND
Join HB Regional Councillor Kevin Rose on the 4th Thursday of each month at 11:30am for this potpourri of items with a true heartland flavour. Kevin will personally discuss general topics of interest to our rural listeners, and this will include interviews and music as well as touching on Regional Council matters.

MANNA FROM HEAVEN
Tamsyn is your host for this new programme which you can hear each Tuesday at 7:30pm. During its 30minutes, you can share about God with music and worship. The music features some original artists.

MAKE A NOISE !

Amnesty International "makes a noise" on behalf of those around the world who can't do so ... without the risk of being arrested, tortured or killed. You will hear all about the activities of the local HB group, along with 'good news' stories, interviews and a selection of international music. The Napier Girls High School Amnesty International group will also be presenting some of the programmes.
